The plot is usually the same. Follow your heart. Be all you can be. In a Disney movie, the princess is being forced to marry someone she doesn't love. She finds her true love but her parents don't accept him. The heroes in this story are the people who help her follow her heart. The villains are those who stand between her and her dreams. Happily ever after comes when she is able to be with the person she's always wanted. This is replayed in thousands of movies and TV shows, not just Disney. It's also preached in thousands of pulpits as the good news. It's the American religion.

I think they beautifully highlight the way the message of Jesus can so easily be corrupted. What hard thing will you embrace today? Sacrifice, humility, emptiness, service. Those are the words to live by. "If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it." Matthew 10:39 (NLT) Give up your dreams today and look for God's dreams.
